What’s a weekend without brunch? Everyone’s favorite Saturday/Sunday meal has become a Seattle ordeal, with lines out the door on a regular basis at some of the city’s favorite restaurants. Locals now have a new weekend breakfast option at Two Doors Down in Madison Valley!

Two Doors Down, the family-friendly burger joint that opened in September at 2332 E. Madison St., is now serving weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Enjoy a kid-friendly menu with the little ones, or have a boozy brunch with morning eye-openers including a daily rotating selection of draft beers.

Brunch offerings include a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich, corn griddle pancakes, French toast, and the epic breakfast poutine with southern-style white gravy, bacon and cheese curds. Those who enjoy sweet over savory should try the gluten-free ciderhouse donut holes that are homemade and served warm with ginger-apple butter, house jam and a cinnamon sugar sprinkle. Boo! Halloween is right around the corner, with anticipation filling the air for the spooky night to come. It’s time to get those costumes and candy buckets ready!

Madison Park businesses along East Madison Street will be offering sweets for trick-or-treaters, as they do each year for Halloween. Bring your costumed kids to collect candy from the shops and restaurants along the neighborhood’s main drag on Friday, October 30th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

There is no official list of participating businesses, but if you come in costume you’re likely to receive a treat from any stop along East Madison Street—at both retail stretches near the waterfront and in Madison Valley.

Mamma mia! A taste of Italy is arriving in the Madison Park neighborhood. The Seattle Eater reports a new Italian restaurant will fill the vacant Pizza Hut space at 2743 East Madison Street at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Way East.

The new restaurant by Chef Luigi DeNunzio will be called Aglio e Olio, Italian for “garlic and oil.” A prominent figure in Seattle’s Italian-American community, DeNunzio is also the owner of three eateries: Al Boccalino, Café Bengodi, and Che Sera Sera.

According to Seattle Eater, Aglio e Olio will serve dishes from DeNunzio’s childhood in Brindisi, Italy—not including pizza—for under $20 per plate. The small space will create an intimate dining experience. Aglio e Olio is slated to open by the end of the year.

Chef DeNunzio aims to bring the fresh cooking and community culture of Little Italy to the Seattle area. From his website: “These various restaurants…provide a completely unique and different Italian dining experience for those wishing to embellish their tastes. From hand made ingredients, to the oils, the balsimicos and brilliant wine, come let Luigi Denunzio share his vision, talent, and belief that food should make you healthy and happy.
