August 3: First Thursday Tram Tour
11am — 12pm | Washington Park Arboretum
The Washington Park Arboretum’s 13-passenger tram offers monthly tours of the expansive nature park. Riders and participants on the first Thursday tour each month will learn about highlights of the season, new plantings, history of the Arboretum and more as they travel from the Graham Visitors Center to the Pacific Connections Garden. This is an open-air tour that operates year-round, rain or shine. Register here.
August 3: First Free Thursday
4pm — 7pm | Seattle Japanese Garden
For August’s first free Thursday at the Seattle Japanese Garden, enjoy the 7th Annual Butoh performance of “Wandering and Wondering”, a group of dancers and musicians directed by Joan Laage of Kogut Butoh. Entry to the Seattle Japanese Garden will be free from 3 p.m. until close.
August 4: Twilight Tram Tour
7pm — 8:30pm | Washington Park Arboretum
Experience the Washington Park Arboretum in a whole new light—literally. The Twilight Tram Tour offers a unique chance to enjoy the nightlife of the park, as you ride the 13-passenger tram through the Arboretum and see wildlife such as bats, owls and raccoons. Your guide will share the history of the Arboretum throughout the tour (offered August 4th and 18th). The cost is $20/person.
August 5: Forest Therapy Walk
9am — 10:30am | Washington Park Arboretum
Enjoy a slow, intentional walk through nature on August 5th, for the Arboretum’s Forest Therapy Walk. The Guide will offer place-based invitations so that walk participants can connect with their senses, others, and nature itself with a deeper appreciation and mindful enjoyment. Dress weather-appropriate. Meet at the Graham Visitor’s Center at the start of the walk. Tickets are $15/person.
August 5: First Saturday Family Program – Kite Making
11am — 1pm | Seattle Japanese Garden
The Drachen Foundation is synonymous in Seattle with kites, and the foundation’s Gregory Kono will host a hands-on kite-making workshop for the Seattle Japanese Garden’s First Family Saturday event in August. This event is free, and the whole family is welcome. The workshop will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and visitors can make mini koi and yakko kites with Mr. Kono while supplies last.
August 17: Summer Paella & Flamenco Dinner
6pm — 9pm | Harvest Vine
Enjoy a delicious summer paella dinner with wine pairings, supplemented by live flamenco music for full ambiance. The Harvest Vine is hosting a Summer Paella & Flamenco Dinner on August 17th, featuring Ben Woods. Guests may arrive at 6 p.m., with the five-course dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. The price is $160/person, and includes the food, wine pairing, entertainment and tax and gratuity.
