Madison Park Events: Things to do in September

As summer comes to a close, there are still many Madison Park events coming up in September to transition smoothly into autumn.

September 4-7: UW Botanic Gardens Kayak Tours
5:30-7 p.m. | 2300 Arboretum Drive East
The Washington Park Arboretum hosts the UW Botanic Gardens Kayak Tours as an end of summer tradition each year. Cruise the Arboretum’s lush wetlands in two-person kayaks—no experience necessary. Kayaks are donated by Agua Verde Paddle Club.

September 6: Moon Viewing Festival
7 – 10 p.m. | Seattle Japanese Garden
Gather at Seattle’s Japanese Garden for the Moon Viewing Festival. In true Japanese style, visitors can gather to observe the Harvest Moon. Enjoy traditional music performances in the paper lantern-illuminated gardens for a serene, lovely evening. A traditional Moon Viewing tea ceremony will also be available. This event requires pre-purchased tickets.

September 8: UW Farm Talk and Tour
6:30-7:30 p.m. | UW Botanic Gardens-Center for Urban Horticulture
The UW Farm talk and tour is a free class that will be led by students involved in the farm. Learn about the UW Farm, which strives to create sustainable urban landscapes within the university community. There will also be a brief tour of the farm site at the Center for Urban Horticulture.

September 15: Respect for Elders Day
1-5 p.m. | Seattle Japanese Garden
Respect for Elders Day at the Japanese Garden honors a traditional Japanese holiday that celebrates elderly community members. Enjoy cultural performances, activities, and wheelchair accessible tea ceremonies. Visitors over age 65 receive free admission.

September 23: Madison Sip and Dine
6 p.m. | 2200 East Madison Street
The idea behind Madison Sip and Dine is to connect people who live and work in the Madison Valley area. This social hour will take place on the upscale Sky Lounge at Aegis Living on Madison. There will be cocktails, wine, small plates, and bites from the grill. Get neighborly and enjoy the view.

Wednesdays: Free Wine Tasting
5-7 p.m. | 19th & East Madison Street
Each Wednesday, Dulces Bistro hosts complimentary wine tastings at the cozy corner space. Tasting includes a flight of rotating featured wines each week. Sip and enjoy among the sounds of live Spanish guitar by Andre Feriante and other musicians.
